software, or integrated into third-party control systems. Extron products use the SIS

- Simple Instruction Set command protocol, a set of basic ASCII code commands that

allow for quick and easy programming. The RS-232 and RS-422 port also makes it

easy to install ﬁrmware updates.

DeScriPtion

Extron Digital XPoint Series are SDI digital video matrix switchers, ideal for switching multiple

serial digital video signals to multiple digital video devices in video production studios, non-linear

editing suites, staging events, and video broadcast studios.

There are two models available in the Digital XPoint line: the DXP 44 SDI, a 4x4 model, and the

DXP 88 SDI, an 8x8 model. Each input has an equalized and buffered loop-through, and each

output has dual buffered and re-clocked BNC outputs.

The Digital XPoint Series conforms to the SMPTE 259M speciﬁcation. These digital matrix

switchers handle all composite, 143 and 177 Mbps, component 4:2:2, 270 Mbps, and

wide-screen 16:9, 360 Mbps, serial standards. Automatic cable equalization typically equalizes

greater than 300 meters at 270 Mbps of Extron RG6 or equivalent high quality cable.

Extron Digital XPoint Series matrix switchers are housed in a rack-mountable, 1U, 19-inch

wide enclosure. Each switcher comes standard with a front control panel and is capable of

communicating to an optional remote control panel or third party control system via RS-232

or RS-422.
