PPS 35 Installation Guide
The Extron® PPS 35 Priority Page Sensor works with the
Extron PVS 405D PoleVault
®
Digital Switcher only and is an
optional part of a PoleVault, PlenumVault
, or WallVault
®
system.
The PPS 35 mounts to the front face of any public address
(PA) loudspeakers. When the Priority Page Sensor senses a
PA system broadcast, it sends a signal to mute the audio
output of the switcher for the duration of the PA broadcast.
The sensor unit is mounted onto the speaker with the pre-installed hook-and-loop
fastener. The cable is connected to the rear panel 3-pole captive screw Paging
Sensor port of the PVS 405D switcher, located up to 50 feet away. Fifteen feet of
cabling is supplied already attached to the sensor.
The paging sensitivity is set and controlled from the switcher via the front panel
encoder, Simple Instruction Set (SIS
) commands, or conguration software.
NOTES:
The PPS 35 unit is NOT plenum rated and should not be installed above a drop
ceiling.
The cable attached to the PPS 35 unit IS plenum rated and may be installed
above a drop ceiling.
The PPS 35 is NOT compatible with PVS 204SA Plus, PVS 305SA,
PVS 305SA IP switchers, or with the PPC 25 Priority Page Controller.

Pre-Installation
Avoid placing the PPS 35 and PA speaker in noisy areas where the sensor can
inadvertently falsely trigger the switcher to mute the program audio.
Examples of noisy areas are:
Crowded areas (such hallways and entrances)
Near an HVAC system vent
Close to the PoleVault system speakers or
other audio speakers
Installation
1. Using the hook-and-loop fastener,
attach the PPS 35 to the front grille of a paging
system speaker (see gure 2) that is located within
fty feet of the PVS 405D.
2. Run the attached cable to the switcher location.
3. Connect the end of the three-wire cable to the Paging
Sensor port on the rear panel of the PVS 405D.
Wire the connector as shown in gure 3.
4. Test and congure the PPS 35 using the PVS 405D front
panel, SIS commands, or the conguration software.
See side 2 for method.
